Board Member: Fundraising & Development
Portland Songwriters Guild, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is seeking a volunteer Board Member with experience in fundraising, grant writing, and community engagement. The commitment is approximately 3 hours per month, with occasional committee work adding up to 2 more hours monthly. This is a volunteer position with the potential to become stipend-based, contingent on fundraising results.

Portland Songwriters Guild is an inclusive and empowering community where songwriters can develop their craft. We do this by:
Creating avenues for songwriters and musical artists in the Pacific Northwest towards sustainable career pathways.
Developing and facilitating a network of songwriters and musical artists.
Providing professional learning opportunities for songwriters and musical artists.
Fostering cooperation and partnership within Portland’s music industry of venues, record labels, and organizations to meet the needs of artists.
What you’ll do:
Fundraising & Grant Writing: Identify and apply for development grants, pursue new funding sources, and develop innovative strategies to build financial support.
Networking & Community Engagement: Leverage connections within Portland’s music and nonprofit communities to expand the Guild’s reach and form strategic partnerships.
Board Participation: Attend monthly virtual board meetings (2 hours per meeting) and contribute to Guild discussions and decision-making.
Committee Work (as needed): Support developing committees and attend relevant meetings as the Guild grows.
Opportunities:

Shape the Guild’s fundraising strategy and build foundational funding sources.

Qualifications:
Experience in fundraising, grant writing, or nonprofit development.
Knowledge of the Portland music scene and ability to connect with local artists, venues, and music organizations.
Creative, flexible, and eager to build community partnerships.
Familiarity with nonprofit governance and previous board experience is a plus, but not required.
Strong communication skills and an interest in helping a new board grow.
